12/21/11 Meria Interviews Chris Hellman, Senior Research Analyst at the National Priorities Project on the cost of war and our “withdrawal” from Iraq. The end of combat isn’t the end of our military presence; we’ll be spending $$ there for decades to come; are we more secure since 9/11? defense budget increased 50% since, no safer; sustainable defense; the ill will from our occupations in the future; who’s actually catching the “terrorists”? why do they hate us? US values are not universal; WW2Vets and Vets now; cutting Veterans benefits; ICC, Geneva Convention; super-committee was destined to fail; cutting the deficit and Dept of Defense; fighting antiquated war/weapons; todays dangers; Fukishima; how to fix it; fix the cause of terrorism -inquality of sharing of resources; bread not bullets.

Another educational interview. To have someone answer your question, “Why are we REALLY leaving Iraq?” and have him answer with a fact I never knew…..the issue of negotiated contracts signed between the two countries. So, Obama rode into the presidency on his white horse, promising that he would pull out the troops, but the seeds of the pull-out had already been sown by Bush. Now, we know for sure that Obama is a big fat liar (surprise) – and I bet 99% of Americans have no idea about that whole issue. Only a few in Congress and your listeners know it!
