12/4/12 Meria interviews Martha Rosenberg a second time on her excellent work “Born With A Fast Food Deficiency, How Flaks,Quacks, and Hacks Pimp The Public Health”. Kenya rejected GMO’s, we still eat it without labels; the protein myth; excessive protein; milk? what about fiber? hemorrhoids and constipation; carnism and Melanie Joy’s work; Mercy for Animals; factory farming killing us and our world; Colin Campbell’s “China Study”; Dr. Michael Greger on chicken and “Mad Cow” disease; why is there arsenic feed in poultry? Gassing tomatoes and beef? why the uptick in allergies, breast & prostate cancer? the energy of the food you eat and you. Another excellent interview.

An incredibly powerful listen. I have mulled over the thought of becoming a vegetarian for years — purely out of sympathy with the plight of the animals. This show has proved my “point of no return”. Two things have always prevented me from making this step. One — I have always loved eating meat, the taste. Two — I have had it drummed into me, all of my life, that meat is an essential to any well-balanced Diet; that meat provided essential sustenance, as it were. On the first point, loving the taste, I’ll just have to say to myself “Tough!”, & get used to other tastes of food, & treat it the same as when I gave up smoking. On the second point, being the philosophy (for it is a philosophy) that eating meat is essential to a well-balanced Diet — are there a couple of books you, Meria, might suggest which Debunk this philosophy? A Book or two which convince me that a Diet of purely vegetarian food would be just, if not more, healthy? I’m planning on going totally meat-free in the New Year, but my weakness may prove to be that I’m still unconvinced that we don’t need meat. I, like 95% of the human race, have been brainwashed thinking we need to eat meat. . . .

I’ve had plenty of doctors on the show proving the health benefits of being a vegetarian, plus my own results from my yearly physicals, where each year they are better and better. Check out Dr.John MacDougall, Dr. Neal Barnard, The China Study by Dr.Colin Campbell for starters.I’ve loads of shows on this in the archives, so use the search bar. We’ve all been had our whole lives about everything, but it’s never too late to change. People think they get protein from meat but once it’s cooked it’s gone. There are many vegetarian bodybuilders too, google it, you’ll be surprised.

Another great show to buttress my decision to remain meat-less. It’s amazing how easy it is to make a portobello mushroom taste just like any kind of meat you want….prime rib, steak, chicken…just by varying the spices/herbs used in cooking. I have been vegetarian for over a decade and feel no deprivation whatsoever. P.S. notmilk.com is still up and running. I googled it while I was listening to the interview.

Great Show and I appreciate hearing your own story: how sad they work in concert to make money and make the rest of us sick.
and to think I missed this show by a year of finding you through Gary Nole. But I’m almost up to speed and getting better every day.
Thanks for linking these through a current show.
    Blessings, mJ
